Open source Malaria

openSourceMalaria.PNG opensourcemalaria.org is an interesting novel approach to drug development. Dedicated to finding a cure for malaria, this open source initiative currently focusses on synthesising new target molecules and having them essayed. Not only the molecules are open-sourced (no patents!), the lab books are open-source and even de ongoing discussions are in the public domain. There are plenty of volunteers but as expected the level of funding is low (crowdfunding?). Interestingly the to-do list and discussion board is hosted on Github a platform originally intended for software development. So if you are a chemist or a biologist, preferably with access to a lab, your participation is requested.
